兩年一度的學(xué)術(shù)盛宴！寧諾第六屆博士研究生學(xué)術(shù)年會(huì)順利舉行

上周，寧波諾丁漢大學(xué)第六屆博士研究生學(xué)術(shù)年會(huì)暨2020寧波市研究生學(xué)術(shù)節(jié)英文分會(huì)順利閉幕。

此次會(huì)議吸引了線上線下600多名中外師生和校外專家學(xué)者參加，給在讀研究生提供了一個(gè)展示科研成果的舞臺(tái)、向前輩和學(xué)術(shù)大咖學(xué)習(xí)的課堂、與校內(nèi)外專家及同行交流合作的機(jī)會(huì)。

專家學(xué)者齊聚寧諾

寧諾執(zhí)行校長(zhǎng)尼克·邁爾斯在開幕式致辭,介紹了寧諾博士教育的基本情況及科研發(fā)表的優(yōu)異成績(jī)。他強(qiáng)調(diào)，學(xué)校不僅對(duì)博士提供科研方面的支持，更注重他們未來(lái)發(fā)展的綜合能力培養(yǎng)。

寧諾研究生院院長(zhǎng)及全球事務(wù)長(zhǎng)張毓隆教授、中國(guó)科學(xué)院寧波材料技術(shù)與工程研究所研究員李赫教授為本次會(huì)議做了主旨演講。張毓隆教授介紹了如何可持續(xù)地發(fā)展科研事業(yè)，并現(xiàn)場(chǎng)邀請(qǐng)兩位博士畢業(yè)生李伯瑩和管正之分享了他們?cè)趯幹Z讀博期間參加學(xué)術(shù)會(huì)議和發(fā)表學(xué)術(shù)論文的經(jīng)驗(yàn)。李赫教授則對(duì)博士研究生讀博時(shí)可能面對(duì)的挑戰(zhàn)及如何展示自己的科研成果等給出了建議。

追求創(chuàng)新、支持學(xué)生獨(dú)立思考并相信學(xué)生擁有無(wú)限潛能是寧諾博士培養(yǎng)的重要理念。導(dǎo)師們經(jīng)常鼓勵(lì)博士生自由地提出自己的想法，同時(shí)啟發(fā)學(xué)生的思路，引導(dǎo)學(xué)生們?nèi)绾谓鉀Q問(wèn)題，而不是直接給出答案。正是在這樣的氛圍之下，寧諾的博士才能投入到科研中去，堅(jiān)持到最后。

張毓隆教授在演講中提到博士畢業(yè)生Felix的例子，他說(shuō)讀博、做科研就像是跑馬拉松，過(guò)程漫長(zhǎng)且艱辛，但只要堅(jiān)持下去，調(diào)整好節(jié)奏，就一定能夠到達(dá)終點(diǎn)。Felix在科研中遇到困難，想要放棄的時(shí)候，張教授就用他們一起參加馬拉松的經(jīng)歷來(lái)鼓舞他，最終，他憑著這份信念順利畢業(yè)并獲得博士學(xué)位。

本次學(xué)術(shù)年會(huì)也展現(xiàn)了寧諾科研團(tuán)隊(duì)的壯大和凝聚力。在寧諾，導(dǎo)師們一直鼓勵(lì)博士生加強(qiáng)國(guó)際合作并多向優(yōu)秀的前輩學(xué)習(xí)。學(xué)校會(huì)經(jīng)常邀請(qǐng)學(xué)術(shù)大咖、專家學(xué)者舉辦學(xué)術(shù)活動(dòng)，讓博士生有更多機(jī)會(huì)進(jìn)行學(xué)術(shù)交流與合作。來(lái)自中科院材料所、中國(guó)科學(xué)技術(shù)大學(xué)、蘇州大學(xué)、寧波市科協(xié)、寧波市社科聯(lián)、寧波市博聯(lián)等其他高校和科研機(jī)構(gòu)的專家學(xué)者對(duì)本次會(huì)議中寧諾博士生的學(xué)術(shù)匯報(bào)提出了寶貴建議。

博士登臺(tái)展示，收獲頗豐

本次會(huì)議共設(shè)四個(gè)獨(dú)立分會(huì)場(chǎng)。在學(xué)術(shù)展示環(huán)節(jié)，博士生對(duì)近期自己的研究課題、研究方法與階段結(jié)果進(jìn)行了個(gè)人陳述并與評(píng)審團(tuán)專家和觀眾互動(dòng)問(wèn)答。評(píng)審團(tuán)隊(duì)由寧波諾丁漢大學(xué)、寧波大學(xué)、中國(guó)科學(xué)技術(shù)大學(xué)和蘇州大學(xué)教師組成，嚴(yán)格按照評(píng)定規(guī)則對(duì)學(xué)生的表現(xiàn)進(jìn)行打分。最終，6名表現(xiàn)優(yōu)異的博士生獲得了本次博士生科研學(xué)術(shù)年會(huì)的最佳學(xué)術(shù)之星。

來(lái)自寧諾商學(xué)院的最佳學(xué)術(shù)之星宋瀟斐說(shuō)，“通過(guò)這次學(xué)術(shù)年會(huì)，我結(jié)識(shí)了很多來(lái)自不同研究背景的新朋友�！�

她表示，能夠在線下和專家學(xué)者面對(duì)面交流，聽取教授和其他博士生的建議，真是受益匪淺。人文社科學(xué)院的最佳學(xué)術(shù)之星Dennis Senam Amable說(shuō)，“專家學(xué)者們所給的反饋很有幫助，這次經(jīng)歷對(duì)我的研究項(xiàng)目和學(xué)術(shù)生涯影響都非常重大�！�

博士研究生學(xué)術(shù)年會(huì)每?jī)赡昱e行一次，對(duì)于在寧諾學(xué)習(xí)的博士研究生來(lái)說(shuō)，這樣的學(xué)術(shù)交流能讓他們對(duì)自己的學(xué)術(shù)生涯更有信心，參會(huì)期間，他們也結(jié)識(shí)了更多志同道合的博士生和教授。

至今，寧諾研究生院已經(jīng)舉辦了六次博士研究生學(xué)術(shù)年會(huì)，并會(huì)在日后繼續(xù)為博士生提供良好的支持與參與類似研究活動(dòng)的機(jī)會(huì)。希望通過(guò)此類活動(dòng)，寧諾的學(xué)術(shù)團(tuán)隊(duì)與科研實(shí)力日益成熟壯大，有更多機(jī)會(huì)與國(guó)內(nèi)外高校學(xué)者、博士生交流與合作。

UNNC 6th Postgraduate Research Conference held

November 20: The University of Nottingham Ningbo China held the 6th Postgraduate Research (PGR) Conference and 2020 Ningbo Graduate Academic Festival English Parallel Sessions in the new library. More than 600 students and academics participated in this event offline and online.

UNNC Provost Professor Nick Miles gave an opening speech to introduce the general information about UNNC PhD education and spoke highly on the excellent performance of UNNC PhDs in research output. He emphasised that UNNC offers not only research support to PhDs, but also the training necessary for their future academic careers.

Professor Alain Chong, Dean of Graduate School and Global Engagement from UNNC, delivered a speech on how to “develop a sustainable research career”. Professor He Li from Marine Materials and Related Technologies CNITECH CAS, shared some useful suggestions for new PhD students facing real research challenges with their studies.

The PGR conference held four parallel sessions. The Judging Panel consisted of professors from each faculty of UNNC and partner institutes and provided rigorous evaluation and gave marks to all the participating postgraduate students during the academic presentation. At the end of the conference, the 3 best presentations and 3 most innovative presentations were presented with awards.

Xiaofei Song, a Best Presenter said: “Through its well-scheduled sessions, I have met new friends from different research backgrounds.” The conference provided her with a chance to present her research project and collect helpful feedback and suggestions to improve it. Dennis Senam Amable, another Best Presenter also commented that “the feedback from the panel and the experience gained will significantly impact my project and academic career”.

At UNNC, pursuing innovation, supporting independent thinking and believing that students have unlimited potential are the core concepts of doctoral education. Supervisors encourage PhD students to come up with their own ideas, enlighten students' thinking and guide them on how to solve problems rather than give answers directly.

Doctoral students are encouraged to attend international conferences and learn from outstanding seniors. The University often invites academic experts and scholars and holds activities to give researchers opportunities for exchanges and cooperation.

The Postgraduate Research Conference takes place once every two years. For UNNC PGR students, this is a great opportunity to practice their presentation skills and network with professors and fellow researchers.
