Growing up in Hulunbuir, Inner Mongolia, Louis Liang basically completed his senior high school courses by self-study. During this period, he found that he likes English, likes to communicate with people with different cultural backgrounds, and hopes to continue to study in an international environment to embrace more opportunities to explore the outside world. Therefore, he chose to enter the University of Nottingham Ningbo China (UNNC) to study the International Business Management programme and brought out extraordinary performance with UNNC's diverse culture and international vision through the search of information.

出生在在遙遠而美麗的內(nèi)蒙古呼倫貝爾市，梁思聰基本以自學的方式完成了高中階段的課程，在這段自主學習的探索中，他發(fā)現(xiàn)自己喜歡英語，喜歡與不同文化背景的人交流，希望能在國際化的環(huán)境中繼續(xù)深造，在成長過程中接觸外界拓寬視野。通過信息的搜索，他高考選擇了寧波諾丁漢大學并被錄取到國際商務管理專業(yè)學習。大學期間，他不斷用寧諾多元的文化和國際化的視野為自己的成長和蛻變添磚加瓦。

勇敢拼搏，不斷蛻變

梁思聰將私募股權(quán)投資作為自己的發(fā)展方向：“我們做的就是為投資人找到好的項目，同時也希望這個項目可以給行業(yè)帶來積極的改變，給社會創(chuàng)造價值。” 在這個過程中他也不斷地接受挑戰(zhàn)，“最直接的困難大概是作為還未畢業(yè)的本科生身份，畢竟現(xiàn)在優(yōu)秀的人才實在太多了”，他坦言，“作為學生我的確還缺少知識的積累和經(jīng)驗的沉淀，但是我也一直覺得學生是敢想敢做的群體，是最有資本去不斷嘗試的群體。”

梁思聰把自己的 gap year (間隔年)標為大學四年的高光時刻，在結(jié)束大二以后，他在自己十分感興趣的投資行業(yè)開始了長時間的實習。他用“蛻變”來形容自己的成長：“在不斷的實習工作中，我覺得自己開始了從一個學生到社會人的變化。與很多同學一樣，這個過程對我來講有困難也有迷茫；進入社會以后，會發(fā)現(xiàn)現(xiàn)實與學校學習的一些理論有些不同，身處的環(huán)境也會更加復雜，帶來的影響也可能更多更大。但往好的一方面想，這同時也意味著我可以從更豐富更真實的維度了解到投資行業(yè)，能在短時間內(nèi)快速擴充自己的知識積累和實踐經(jīng)驗。因此，即使當時有很大的不確定性，我還是堅持按照自己的想法走了下來。”

用中國市場的認知投資到海外

在聊到為什么會選擇做私募股權(quán)的的時候，梁思聰將自己的選擇描述為“找到一件事來讓自己跟隨時代一起進步一起成長”。追隨自己的興趣并且受學校國際化視野的影響，梁思聰?shù)闹饕�投資方向是海外投資，重點關(guān)注東南亞地區(qū)；關(guān)于這一選擇，他對自己的熱情與理想做出了說明和強調(diào)：“我一直非常幸運能有機會接觸到出海投資這個方向，我們恰好是伴隨著中國互聯(lián)網(wǎng)成長起來的一代，我當時的想法是能夠把自己在中國獲得的認知帶到那些國家，用中國的視角去推進當?shù)氐慕ㄔO，也非常想去見證其他國家科技和新經(jīng)濟的發(fā)展。”

梁思聰?shù)暮Ｍ馔顿Y之旅開始于2019年的一趟印度之旅，在幾個月的行程中，他接觸了一些本土的創(chuàng)業(yè)者，并開始了對當?shù)匾恍┩顿Y機會的初步思考，而這段海外實踐經(jīng)歷和他強烈的求知精神也得到了前復星集團董事總經(jīng)理的贊賞。接著，梁思聰又前往東南亞進行投資機會的探索，但卻在2020年因為疫情而滯留東南亞；幸運的是，在朋友的幫助下，他成功進入一家當?shù)氐墓�司繼續(xù)自己的投資之旅。

在聊起投資這件自己熱愛并為之奮斗的事時，梁思聰滔滔不絕地分享起了自己的感悟：“從我自身出海投資的經(jīng)歷來講，不管是印尼、印度、東南亞還有我后來關(guān)注的中東地區(qū)，他們的整個投資環(huán)境都與中國有著很大的不同；我個人覺得國內(nèi)的投資環(huán)境是投資人眾多，好的項目尤其是在互聯(lián)網(wǎng)和物流這塊更是讓人應接不暇。而反觀東南亞這些地區(qū)，他們的基礎設施和互聯(lián)網(wǎng)還不像中國已經(jīng)進入了比較成熟的階段，可以說是更像十年甚至十五年前的中國。我在印尼投資了很多物流項目和一些比較新興的消費品牌，在印度的時候重點集中在互聯(lián)網(wǎng)上。”

海外投資經(jīng)驗的積累和銳意進取的精神讓梁思聰?shù)玫搅嗽S多的認可，在談起自己相關(guān)的經(jīng)歷時他也表現(xiàn)出了小小的興奮與自豪：“我參與過的最成功的一個項目是一家國內(nèi)電子簽名的頭部企業(yè)，已經(jīng)到了擬申報上市的階段。而今年年初的時候我應聘了一家專注于中東方向投資的公司，叫和玉資本，當時他們收到了上百份簡歷，其中包括很多碩士與MBA畢業(yè)生，但最后公司只招了我一個實習生。”在這段工作中，梁思聰又將對中國互聯(lián)網(wǎng)模式的研究對標到中東市場上，關(guān)注了中東的社交、手游以及倉儲物流等領(lǐng)域。此外，梁思聰還是一位出海專欄作家，多次在36氪出海、億邦動力和白鯨出海等多個平臺上發(fā)表文章，他說寫這些文章的初心是想把自己在國外的親身經(jīng)歷和學到的知識都記錄下來，也樂意與做出海投資的同仁們分享交流。

堅持熱愛，生活不止一面

雖然很早確定了成為一名投資人的目標，但是在探索事業(yè)以外，梁思聰還有很多愛好。大一時他加入了寧諾最早成立的樂隊—Skyline，多次在校內(nèi)以及寧波各處登臺演出。對他來說，生活中不僅僅有學習有工作，音樂也是重要的補給站。除此之外，他熱愛體育運動，尤其是爬山和游泳，曾在國內(nèi)外多次登山、徒步，這也是他性格的映射——心無畏懼，不斷挑戰(zhàn)更高的目標。

另外，梁思聰在大學五年里也積極參加各類比賽和活動。2019年，他參與了由霍特商學院主辦的Hult Prize（該比賽旨在鼓勵學生通過創(chuàng)新的商業(yè)方式解決社會問題，是全球最大的針對社會問題的學生競賽），與團隊合作完成 ReBloom 項目，運用跨境電商的商業(yè)模式幫助非洲低收入人群賣出工藝品，項目最終代表 UNNC 在一眾參賽者中脫穎而出，晉級迪拜世界總決賽。

2020年，他參與了全國大學生創(chuàng)業(yè)世界杯 University Startup World Cup 2020, 與好友高成志、楊松宸一同參與了多輪的演講和研討會，項目涵蓋了聯(lián)合國SDGs（可持續(xù)發(fā)展目標）和在寧諾學到的企業(yè)社會責任等內(nèi)容；最終，他們從全球各國數(shù)千參賽團隊脫穎而出，成功入圍世界決賽。

擴大社交圈，和志同道合的朋友共同成長

在大學期間，梁思聰廣泛接觸寧諾校友圈子，多次參加寧諾創(chuàng)投領(lǐng)域在北京、上海、杭州等地的校友活動，并獲得了來自校友的認可。在匯豐銀行從事投資工作的校友沈俊成將其形容為一位“熱情、外向、敢想敢做的冒險家”，而在快手從事戰(zhàn)略投資的校友鄭子昂說道：“思聰同學讓我們看到了篳路藍縷、不拘一格的‘寧諾精神’未曾斷代、薪火相傳。有這樣優(yōu)秀前瞻的后浪學弟也讓我們這些‘死在社會沙灘上’的老校友們更有動力繼續(xù)努力，為未來校友們打拼一片生存發(fā)展空間，前仆后繼不懈努力、星星之火可以燎原！” 除此之外，梁思聰也團結(jié)了很多投資、創(chuàng)業(yè)領(lǐng)域的同學，并多次舉辦寧諾內(nèi)的交流活動。他說：“作為寧諾人，深刻體會到校友networking（社交網(wǎng)絡）的重要性，并且正在努力推動校友、同學間產(chǎn)生更多合作。最高的友誼，是相互成就�！�

從成長到成人，跳出舒適圈

在被問及對學弟學妹的建議時，梁思聰首先便提到了要主動勇敢地跳出校園里學生的身份，多去實習，在實踐中接觸投資，“投資是一件非常復雜的事情，想找到好的投資項目要關(guān)注的因素太多了，這對很多學生來說的確是很大的挑戰(zhàn)，但是在這個過程中我們的各方面能力都會得到鍛煉。比如說對一個企業(yè)的判斷可能涉及到它的財務角度、業(yè)務角度、它的現(xiàn)任團隊是否可靠以及整個行業(yè)的前景問題，這個行業(yè)里有哪些玩家、需要怎樣的核心競爭力，在接觸投資以后我也逐漸養(yǎng)成了深入思考問題的習慣，會有意識地去尋找不同維度的關(guān)注點來發(fā)現(xiàn)問題、解決問題�！�

此外，梁思聰也指出找到自己真正熱愛的事情非常重要，要主動地開闊眼界，同時也要擁有自己思考自己判斷的能力，“比如在我高中的時候就有開始閱讀財經(jīng)報道，正好那個時候趕上中國的新經(jīng)濟崛起關(guān)鍵的幾年，創(chuàng)業(yè)極大地吸引了我，在后來的學習工作中，我就一直會有意地進行思考，去了解一個小小的 start-up (初創(chuàng)企業(yè))是如何成長為一個偉大的公司甚至改變整個行業(yè)的。與此同時，我又是一個非常熱愛旅行、非常熱愛交朋友的人，在寧諾我就有很多國際生朋友，在與他們的聊天和國外旅行的過程中，我便開始思考自己做出海投資的可能性，也更加確定了自己想在這條路上走下去�！�

最后，梁思聰告訴我們，寧諾的自由開放和尊重包容對于他而言有著重大的意義，同時也表達了對于父母理解并支持自己獨特思想和選擇的感恩�，F(xiàn)在他已經(jīng)拿到了一家年輕公司的 offer。畢業(yè)后，面對疫情給海外投資帶來諸多的挑戰(zhàn)，他加入了一家投資高科技、醫(yī)療方向的基金，一方面拓展他的認知和能力圈，另一方面中國是未來最大的統(tǒng)一市場，資本又在高速發(fā)展，未來可以轉(zhuǎn)向海外并購重組、戰(zhàn)略投資，協(xié)同國內(nèi)外資源優(yōu)勢互補。他說：“在未來我仍舊會堅持關(guān)注出海投資，繼續(xù)用中國的經(jīng)驗在其他國家尋找發(fā)展機會，也始終會堅持相信并踐行‘投資是價值創(chuàng)造’這一理念，努力成為一個對社會有用的人。”

Always be Brave and Seek Self-development

Louis takes private equity investment as his career direction. "What we do is to find good projects for investors, and at the same time, we hope this project can bring positive changes to the industry and create value for the society." When pursuing his goal, he constantly accepted challenges. "The most direct one is probably the status of being an undergraduate. After all, there are too many excellent talents now. It is true that as a student, I really lack the accumulation of knowledge and experience. However, I also think that students are the group who has the courage to learn, to dream about the future and to put their plans into practice.”

Louis marked his gap year as the highlight of his fiveyears in the university. After finishing his sophomore year, he began his internship in the investment industry that he was very interested in and had rapid self-development. “I feel that I have started to change from a student to a social person. Lots of my classmates and friends found this process difficult and confusing, and I also felt the same way. After entering society, I found that the reality is very different from some theories learned from school. Of course, the complex environment might bring a greater impact on whatever you are doing. But thinking to form another aspect also means that I can learn about the investment industry from a more authentic dimension and quickly expand my knowledge accumulation and practical experience in a short time. Therefore, even though there was a lot of uncertainty at that time, I stuck to my goal and faced all the difficulties actively.”

Learn in China, Explore Aboard

When asked about why he chose to do private equity, Louis described his choice as "finding one thing to keep pace with the times". Following his own interests receiving the influences from UNNC, Louis's main investment direction is overseas investment and mainly focus on Southeast Asia. “I have always considered myself as very lucky to have access to the overseas investment. We happen to be a generation who have witnessed the Internet era in China. So at that time, I wanted to bring Chinese experience to those countries in Southeast Asia, to promote their local construction, and to witness the development of technology and a new economy.”

Louis's overseas investment journey began with a trip to India in 2019. In that journey, he connected with some local entrepreneurs and began to think about some investment opportunities. This experience and his passion for seeking knowledge have also been praised by the former managing director of Fosun Group. In 2020, Louis went to Southeast Asia to explore investment opportunities but was trapped there because of Covid-19. Fortunately, with the help of his friends, he successfully entered a local company to continue his investment journey.

Louis is more than willing to share his feelings regarding the investment that he loves and strives for. “The whole investment environment of Indonesia, India, Southeast Asia and the Middle East, which I later focused on, is very different from that of China. In China, there are many investors and good projects, especially on the Internet and logistics. But, the infrastructure and Internet in Southeast Asia are not as mature as China, which can be said to be more like China ten or even fifteen years ago. I invested in many logistics projects and some relatively new consumer brands in Indonesia, and when I was in India, I focused on the Internet.”

The accumulation of overseas investment experience and enterprising spirit has made Louis get a lot of recognition. When talking about his relevant experience, he also showed a little excitement and pride."One of the most successful projects I have participated in is ahead enterprise of electronic signature in China, which has reached the stage of applying for listing. At the beginning of this year, I applied for Heyu Capital, a company focusing on investment in the Middle East. At that time, they received hundreds of resumes, including many masters and MBAs. But in the end, the company only recruited me as an intern." Louis tried to apply his research on China's Internet model to the Middle East market during this period of work. He focused on social networking, mobile games, warehousing and logistics in the Middle East. Additionally, Louis is also a columnist on several overseas service platform. He said that writing these articles is to record his own experience and knowledge and reference investors who invest abroad.

Stick to Your Love, Live an Interesting Life

Although Louis has determined to seek his career in the investment industry, he develops many interests. Music is important for him, so in his freshman year, he joined Skyline, the earliest band founded in UNNC, and performed many times on campus and around Ningbo. Also, he loves sports, especially mountain climbing and swimming. He went mountain climbing and hiking many times, which reflected his characters: fearless, constantly challenging higher goals.

In addition, Louis participated in lots of activities and competitions. In 2019, he participated in the Hult Prize. The competition aims to encourage students to solve social problems through innovative business methods and this is the world's largest student competition targeting social problems. Furthermore, he and his team represented UNNC to work on the project “ReBloom”, which aimed at using cross-border e-commerce to help low-income people in Africa sell their handicrafts, and the team eventually got into the Dubai World Finals. In 2020, he participated in the University Start-up World Cup, delivered several rounds of lectures and joined seminars with his friends Gao Chengzhi and Yang Songchen. The project covered elements such as the United Nations SDGs and corporate social responsibility learned in UNNC. They stood out from thousands of teams from all over the world and got into the world finals.

Expand Social Network, Growingwith Friends

Louis has a close connection to the social circle of UNNC alumni and has participated in UNNC investment alumni activities in many cities, such as Beijing, Shanghai and Hangzhou. As a result, he has gained a good reputation among alumni. For example, Shen Juncheng, an alumnus who works in HSBC, described Louis as an “enthusiastic and outgoing adventurer who dares to think and take actions”. And Chen Zi'ang, an alumnus who works as a strategic investor in Kuaishou, said,” Louis showed us that the UNNC spirit of diligence and fearlessness has never been passed down. With such excellent and forward-looking talent, alumni who like us have more motivation to continue to work hard and exploit better opportunities for future students.” Moreover, Louis also holds many alumni activities about investment and entrepreneurship, “As a UNNCer, I deeply realize the importance of alumni networking, and I am trying to promote cooperation between alumni and current students. The highest friendship is mutual success.”

Get Out of your Comfort Zone and Keep Learning

When asked about his suggestions for younger peers, Louis first mentioned that they should take the initiative, explore the world outside the school and practice more. Investment is a very complex thing. Finding a good project needs to consider many factors, which is really a great challenge for many students. But in this process, our abilities in all aspects will be exercised and improved. For example, the evaluation of an enterprise may involve its financial perspective, business perspective, the reliability of its current team, the prospect of the whole industry: who are the players in the industry and what core competitiveness are needed, etc. When I am investing, I have gradually formed the habit of deep thinking and will consciously look for different dimensions of problems.”

In addition, Louis also pointed out that it's essential to discover your true interests, which requires the courage to keep exploring and thinking for yourself. “For instance, when I was in high school, I began to read some financial reports. At that time, I caught up with the upsurge of entrepreneurship, and the phenomenon of "using PPT to make the company worth tens of millions" truly attracted me. In my later study and work, I will always do conscious thinking about how a small start-up can grow into a great company and even change the whole industry in a short period of time. Meanwhile, I am also a person who loves travelling and making friends. I have many international students in UNNC. When chatting with them and travelling abroad, I began to think about the possibility of studying overseas investment, and I finally determined that this is what I really want to do.”

At the end of the interview, Louis told us that UNNC’s freedom, openness and respect are greatly significant. Also, he expressed his gratitude to his parents for understanding and supporting his ideas and choices. Now he has got an offer from a start-up company in Shanghai and will work with the partners to promote its growth.After graduation, considering the challenges against investing overseas due to Covid, he has joined a fund covering deep-techand health. This will help him acquire new abilities. Also, China will be the largest single market in the future with the acceleration of its capital market. In the future, he will also transition to cross-border M&A or strategic investment, creating more synergies in resources between China and the world. “In the future, I will continue to focus on overseas investment, continue to use China's experience to seek development opportunities in other countries, and always adhere to the belief and practice of the concept ‘investment is value creation’, striving to become a useful person to the society.”
