fear是什么意思 fear用法及搭配

fear的意思是“害怕;畏懼;懼怕;擔(dān)心;擔(dān)憂”。fear表示“可能性”時，用作不可數(shù)名詞，其后常接介詞of短語。fear可用作及物動詞，也可用作不及物動詞。用作及物動詞時，其賓語可以是名詞、代詞、動名詞、動詞不定式、that從句。

1. 用作動詞，注意以下搭配：

搭配1：表示害怕做某事，其后可接不定式或動名詞，但以用不定式為普通。如：

誤：I fear him to fail.

正：I fear that he will fail.

搭配4：比較 fear sb 與 fear for sb：前者意為害怕某人，后者意為為某人擔(dān)心。如：

He fears his wife. 他怕他老婆。

He fears for his wife. 他為他老婆擔(dān)心。

2. 用作名詞，注意以下搭配

搭配5：for fear of 意為“由于怕……”“以防……”。如：
