保羅·高更（Paul Gauguin，1848—1903）法國后印象派畫家、雕塑家，與梵高、塞尚并稱為后印象派三大巨匠。

代表作品有《我們從哪里來？我們是什么？我們到哪里去？》《黃色的基督》《游魂》《敬神節(jié)》等。保羅·高更生于法國巴黎，年輕時做過海員，后成為一名股票經紀人。

1873年，高更開始學畫，并在1883年成了一名職業(yè)畫家，他曾連續(xù)4次參加印象主義畫派的展覽。1886年，高更離開巴黎來到布列塔尼的蓬塔旺小鎮(zhèn)作畫。第二年，高更又橫渡大西洋來到西印度群島的馬提尼島，島上的熱帶風光給他的藝術以啟發(fā)，他的作品在形式和色彩上進一步簡化，以此來傳達純粹的感受和心靈的內容。

1890年之后，高更日益厭倦文明社會而一心遁跡蠻荒，太平洋上的塔希提島成了他的歸宿。1897年，高更貧病交加，曾企圖自殺。1901年，他離開塔希提島前往馬克薩斯群島，兩年后去世。
